Dressing the baby

Finally, here is the knitted baby with hair and clothes on! To be sure, my crafting still has a ways to go before matching Beth's craft, but my daughter loves this little one anyway. We are going to call her 'Emmy' after my niece.

Pretty paper flowers

Check out these pretty paper flowers by Lish Dorset. I can just see them hanging around the verandah in between some fairy lights for that late summer night bbq. You can find the tutorial on how to make them here. (Keep scrolling down through the blog until you find the instructions.)

My daughter helped me make a whole bunch of these as centre pieces for a mexican banquet, in red, yellow, orange and blue. They looked fantastic. All you need is patience!

Busy week, baby still not dressed!

Ok, so the hair will have to wait for my knitted baby, and the dress is not quite finished... but work and kids have kept me running this week. Hopefully you have all managed to squeeze in some therapeutic crafting time. As I have not managed to get my doll up and dressed, I thought I'd share the pic of the doll 'Jennifer', by Beth, that I'm modelling her after. Get more info on her by clicking here.

Scrapbooking and Paper Craft Expo

Yippee! It's that time of year again for us Melbournians. From March 1-3 there will be loads of inspiration and tutorials to see and experience. I highly recommend this as a fun day (or weekend) out for anyone who has the time. Check out the site http://craftevents.com.au for more information and dates for your particular state.  There is also a Copic competition, all you have to do is create a card, layout or off the page project using your favourite Copic Colours. See www.copicmarker.com.au/queenofcopic, for further details, terms and conditions.

Knitted baby

Awww.... I think this little one needs some clothes, and possibly some hair. This is my attempt at a look-a-like Waldorf doll from By Hook, By Hand which you can find here. My favourite doll is Jennifer, so I'll probably pick colours similar to hers for this doll. But the weekend is over and who knows when I'll have time to do a little more knitting! Hopefully I'll have some clothes on her soon and I promise to post another photo when they're done.

Fingerpuppets!!

Recognise this little guy? I know he's missing his thing patch on the front, I will embroider that onto some white felt and glue it on soon. My niece is very much into Dr. Seuss at the moment so I thought I'd knit up some finger puppets for her. I also have been working on the Lorax. My daughter loves his big bushy eyebrows. If I'm not careful she might take the two of these guys for her own collection. If anyone has any suggestions on which other characters I should do, or who their favorites are, let me know!

Boys Bags

Here is another of the Chrissy presents I made for the boys. They are each getting their own laptops this year for school, so I thought a laptop bag might be appropriate. These cost me next to nothing as I used the boys old clothes to make them. The handle was from a belt, and the pockets collected from all sorts of different items of clothing. Even the elastic used to close the inside pockets was taken from the adjustable waistline of a pair of pants. This was the green/blue bag, I also made a red/brown one.
This is the inside of the bag with many more pockets than they will probably use, but after seeing how excited my hubby gets over lots of pockets on his bags I thought the boys might like this too.
The pattern for these bags was adapted from Kay Whitt's book Sew Serendipity: Bags.
Check out her page of gorgeous designs here.
